A short update. I am 3/4 done with my week of glory. But in any battle, including a battle of wits, there is often a close relationship between glory and destruction. My back, legs, and neck are bothering me from typing on computers for about a week straight. Anyway, I’ve only got one paper left now, it’s due Thursday at 5 p.m. (I’m going to ask if I can turn it in Friday morning).
Other than that I have some breaking news on the whistling front. On Sunday night I stopped by a friend’s recording studio. He’s making a soundtrack for a full-length independent film he’s made, and he asked me to record some whistling tracks for him. This was remarkably fun and rewarding for me.
In related whistling news, I discovered tonight that, since I consider myself to be a practiced and accomplished whistler, I get personally offended if people ask me to stop whistling becuase of the sterotype of whistling being “annoying.” Poor whistling can certainly annoy, I completely agree, no different than how a person who knows little of playing the violin can create with ease wretched, wince-inducing screeches. However, I am insulted upon suggestion that mywhistling, honed, honestly, with intention and practice, is at this point capable of producing such an effect.
Late to bed, early to rise, to turn in a paper, I do despise.
