Nothing

So one of two things has happened:

Either you’ve been checking here. And you read my last entry. And you thought it was amazing? But, you were too busy to say so. Or…

You stopped checking here because my updates were so infrequent. Well. Nothing gold can stay, including the loyalty of my readers? But if you’re reading this, c’mon! My last entry was pretty good (and this one will prove to be even better!). Yet, the ONLY comment actually based on the last entry read, “Updates are good.” –which, you surely notice, fails to specify which update is good. It says, one could argue, that whether I had posted the good entry that I wrote, or whether I had copy/pasted an encyclopedia entry for “hemorrhoids,” both would have qualified equally as “good.”

Anyway, I push on. I will attempt to win back my readership: it’s a small ship, but it’s sturdy and full of love, however conditional that love may be.

The last couple weeks I have been doing two things, and both of them are nothing. The first nothing I do, though I get paid for it, is still nothing. It’s substitute teaching, and in essence I get 60 bucks to wake up early and not fall asleep again until I get home. The other nothing I’m doing is the real one. When I’m not subbing, I’m basically finding ways to kill time.

At least that’s how it feels, because most of the time in front of a computer. Technically, however, I’m “getting stuff done.” But when people say, “I’m getting stuff done,” it really means, “until something more exciting comes along.” Like my visits to Bloomington.

I am fortunate enough to be in Bloomington right now, as I write this. I come here to visit Morgan and we always have tons of fun, even though sometimes what we do is, also, nothing. Although I admit it’s not that fun when she’s taking her last final and I get locked out of her house.

I’m going to be here for a couple of days and it should be a BLAST because Morgan has all of her finals today, and after 9 p.m. tonight, she’ll have nothing left. Those of you who have lived in Bloomington know how much fun it is to be here and have no job, no school: only free time.

Something

Well, at least some things have benefited from all my free time, and all that time spent in front of a computer. First of all, this entry. I’m quite proud of it :)

AND, if you managed to read last week’s entry, and by the look of the comments at least one person read it (or they didn’t read it, had read something else, and just wanted to go to my website to let me know that, in his humble opinion, updates are good, though not necessarily mine). I mean, if you did read the last entry you’ll know that every Christmas I get really stressed out about buying gifts.

However, with all this free time, I’m gearing up for what may prove my most successful Christmas ever. I mean, I’ve got something for everyone. Some people I’ve got two or three somethings for. And, for me, that’s really something.

Additionally, this weekend should be a lot of fun. There’s something pretty big every day. On Saturday, I graduate. My family’s coming down, I spent ‘er, my parents spent 22 bucks on a cap and gown, and I’m eating as many whores’de’voorays as I can get my hands on. Then, on Sunday, I’m playing drums in a band! Been years since I’ve gotten to do that, and I’m super excited. It’s for the Grace Church’s college group, and I’m in the worship band and we’re playing Christian Rock versions of famous Christmas carols. That’s good enough for me.

I just found out something, too: apparently there’s a sequel to Clerks coming out called “Passion of the Clerks.” All they really tell you is it’s a sequel, and it picks up their story ten years later. Who knows how that’ll end up, but still, it’s something I believe I’ll look forward to.

Ok, well, I’m going to wrap this one up. I’m really looking forward to seeing the Seattle folks (and the Portland, Minnesota, and Chicago folks) this Christmas! Have a wonderful day. Oh, and if you’ve enjoyed this entry, perhaps you could leave me a little “something” in the comments? Au revoir.
